This little darling girl is Baby Iva, just eight days old for this session with her parents, Teri and Adam, and their beloved dog Samson. This newborn shoot is so precious and warm, but it is also a little bittersweet. Samson had been in the family for many years and they had been looking forward to he and Iva growing up together. However, just a few days before this session, they learned he had lymphoma and only had a short time left with them. Teri and Adam wanted to be sure to include Samson in the photos, as these would be the only photos they would have all together. Black and Hue Photography captured them as a family in such a lovely, natural way. To see all of the photos submitted, be sure to take a peek in the full gallery.
The inspiration for this Farmer’s Market themed birthday party for little Eveylnn came from the cutest place! Evelynn’s mom Sarah Hames of Rhone Weddings documented her pregnancy weekly with info about the size of the baby, often with comparisons to fruits and vegetables. For example, “This week the baby is the size of an avocado.” All those weeks added up to Evelynn at the end, and the Farmer’s Market theme seemed to be very fitting for her daughter’s first birthday. Sarah teamed up with her husband to build the market stand, which featured fresh lemonade and homemade themed cupcakes in flavors like carrot cake, sweet potato and strawberry. The party favors were perfect for the theme: hand stamped totes ready to be filled up with a selection of apples, mini pumpkins, and gourds. Later Evelynn sat in an antique high chair adorned with a fabric bunting made by Sarah to enjoy her smash cake. Stop by the full gallery to see all the photos captured by Rhone Studios!

“We loved styling this English garden baby shower tea at the luxurious Langham Huntington Hotel and Spa. The Langham’s old-world charm, delicious food, and impeccable service made the day perfect. Our darling Scarlet Layla made us think of scarlet hues, so we couldn’t resist threading red touches throughout the design. We’re fortunate to know talented friends in the event industry who could help make this day so incredibly special. The lovely invitations and paper from Jill Velez of Copper Willow include a baby silhouette with red script and gorgeous calligraphy. The cake is a hand-painted, gardenia-scented confection that tasted even better than it looked! Stunning vintage china and silverware came to us from the large collections of vintage rental ware at Casa De Perrin. The breathtaking flower arrangements were made by Narine of Heavenly Garden Flowers and perfectly set off silver trays and bowls passed down in our family for generations. We gave it a bit of whimsy with vintage animals and tutus inspired by Scarlet’s nursery. One of our favorite gifts was this Serena and Lily moses basket. All captured beautifully by our dear friend Annie Sackmann.”
